Credits & Plans
Understand GetWebP WordPress service credits, credit counting, and what Pro removes.
Credits & Plans
The free WordPress plugin does not require a license key, but the current admin UI requires a free GetWebP account connection before scanning, previewing, or saving optimized files. The connection manages service credits and job authorization.
Table of Contents#
Free Limits#
| Limit | Free plugin |
|---|---|
| Monthly optimization credits | 100 |
| Images per browser batch | 20 |
| Service account required | Yes, before scan, preview, or optimization actions |
| License key required | No |
The admin UI shows current usage, remaining credits, reserved credits, and reset timing when the service account is connected.
How Credits Are Counted#
One Media Library source image counts once per monthly period when generated files are saved. WordPress-generated sizes for the same source image are included in that count. Duplicate attachments pointing at the same physical source are counted once where the plugin can identify the shared source.
| Action | Credit impact |
|---|---|
| Preview quality | No credits used |
| Optimize one source image | 1 credit |
| Optimize WordPress sizes for that source image | Included in the same 1 credit |
| Re-optimize an already counted source in the same period | Still counted once for that period |
| Optimize the same source in a new monthly period | Counts in the new period |
What Happens When Credits Run Out#
When free credits are exhausted:
- New optimization runs cannot start.
- Existing generated files stay in place.
- Standard WebP delivery continues for generated WebP files.
- Original uploads are not changed or deleted.
Credits reset with the next monthly period.
What Pro Removes#
Licensed Pro removes the free monthly credit limit and the 20-image browser batch limit. Browser runs still save generated files back to the WordPress site, while Pro background processing uses its own queue and worker limits.
