File Naming Patterns

GetWebP names output files so you can tell them apart from originals.

Default behavior#

By default, the extension adds a suffix (e.g. .webp or a custom pattern) so the original file is not overwritten. Exact behavior may depend on whether you use single conversion or batch.

Customizing names#

If the extension supports a naming option in settings, you can choose patterns such as:

• Original name + suffix (e.g. photo_webp.webp)
• Original name + quality (e.g. photo_q80.webp)

Check the extension popup or options page for any File naming or Output name settings.
